"You don't get harmony when everybody sings the same note"
-Doug Floyd

Oh hey Tumblr

Sorry I’ve been neglecting you lately. But in truth, I really haven’t been. I’ve been lurking around and not posting. I’m still a thankful, thankful girl, but as usual, I can’t keep up with the commitment. So…what’s up? Random comment below and it’ll lead me into an excellent life story?

A man plays “Over the Rainbow” on 16 cat squeak toys.

Watch this, then go home to your weekend.

I found this ridiculously funny.

Hunter Parrish’s last “Beautiful City” - 4/15/2012 (7:30)
(aka the most heartbreaking thing I have ever heard)

Maybe it’s a good thing I wasn’t there for this. I might have drowned the theater in my tears.

Well…

I suppose I’ll never see Hunter Parrish as Jesus again in Godspell. As much as it kills me, I’m thankful I had the opportunity to see him once. It was wonderful…I only wish I hadn’t been so dazed by the entire experience, and could have taken it in more.

Goodbye Jesus, hello Silas!

SOSO THANKFUL.

53. This beautiful weather - 75 and sunny does NOT happen in the northeast in mid-March. Actually, it doesn’t usually happen ‘till June. Today was SUCH a great day to remember all the good in my life.

54. School plays This past weekend, my school put on Bye Bye Birdie. Even though I only did the spotlight, I felt just as much a part of the cast as everybody else. I was so proud of them for putting it all together, and I know the cast (and crew!) worked EXTREMELY hard. I was proud to be involved, and it planted the seed in my mind that maybe, just maybe, I’ll be on stage next year, not above it.

55. Running - Because of the awesome weather, I started my 15k training with my dad. I felt surprisingly good, and am happy that I’m not as out of shape as I thought I was. The bonding + the health benefits + being outdoors and freeee = 1 very happy and thankful me.

56. Completed Checklists - Translation: a day of productivity (rare for me!!) Thankful I have so much to do and not enough time to do it. SO much better than being bored :)

57. New friends- Kind of an extension on the whole play thing, but being involved in Bye Bye Birdie gave me the chance to talk to people that I don’t usually talk to. And not only did they feel like friends, but family. It was seriously an awesome experience.

58. Hugs - One of my favorite things in the world is being squeezed half to death by someone you love. I’m so fortunate to have so many people that I can hug.

59. All the trips my family took to Disney in the past - I was so lucky to have been able to go on multiple occasions, when some kids are lucky to get there once in their lives. They were some of the best bonding opportunities I’ve had, and I never once failed to get sucked in by all that Disney magic.

Have a wonderfully splendid, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious week!! (sp? oh well)

Thankful Thankful Thankful…

46.Driving- I got my driver’s license this past week, and despite the fact that gas is NOT cheap, the freedom is pretty darn awesome :) Thankful for the ability to drive and the independence I’m gaining.

47. Essays - At the moment, I strongly dislike them. But they represent the fact that I can read and write, and that I have the opportunity to go to school and learn. Plus, the essays I’m writing are for applications for a bunch of programs that I may get to be a part of next year. Opportunity is always good, yes?

48.Daylight Savings Time- Because it means the days are getting longer, and spring is almost here!

49. Pancake Breakfasts - I can’t count the number of pancake fundraisers I’ve been to in my life to help out my friends’ sports teams. The pancakes are always delish, and what’s better than eating breakfast with friends?

50.Exhaustion- This week is going to be a busy one…I’ll barely be home, and I’m sure i’ll be tired. But I’m doing all kinds of awesome things this week. Exhaustion isn’t always a bad thing…it means you have lots to do!

51.College Fairs- The colleges might all start to blend together after a while, but it’s amazing to see all my potential homes in a few years.

52.My smile- It came at a price- years of retainers and braces weren’t cheap for my parents. But I love my teeth, and I love the fact that they were willing to invest in my smile.

Once again, have a good week!

Another week! Things I’m Thankful For

39. Spontaniety - I woke up Friday morning thinking that I would be doing nothing Saturday. By the time I went to bed Friday night, I had a whole day’s worth of events scheduled for Saturday. And a good day it was.

40. Outdoor events that happen on really nice days - I walked 5 miles yesterday to support the American Heart Association. It so happened that the weather was gorgeous, and rarely do I wear a sweatshirt without a jacket in March. It was lovely.

41. The Godspell soundtrack - Mainly because it’s been on repeat for the last few days. The message the songs carry is uplifting…not to mention their voices are INCREDIBLE (I’m talking about the New Broadway cast’s version).

42. My clothes - Another thing I did Saturday was painting the set for the school play. I wasn’t actually aware that I was going to be painting, so I didn’t dress appropriately. Needless to say, I walked out covered in paint. I ruined the jeans and shirt I was wearing, which disappointed me, because I’m very picky when it comes to jeans, but I’m thankful that I’ve got plenty more outfits, and it wasn’t a real loss for me.

43. Delicious baked goods - Yesterday, my friend made monkey bread. It’s some kind of bread with a sticky cinnamon coating. And it is amazing. Having friends that spread happiness through dessert and being able to taste it and share it with the people I love is always great.

44. Family dinners - I’m so lucky to have the family I have. More often than not, we get on each other’s nerves, but at the end of the day, we’re together. I can’t remember the last time I went to bed without saying “I love you” to them.

45. My math teacher - He wrote me a letter of recommendation for a program I’m applying for, and the things he said in it made me proud to be me. It was the first letter I’ve had written for me in a long time, and I want to use the same letter for everything I apply to.

Have a wonderful week!!

Things I’m Thankful For for the Week

32. Procrastination - Just kidding. Maybe I’m not so thankful for this one…it’s certainly making this research paper miserable! On the flip side, it does show that I have lots of stuff to do, which means I’m a busy person, which is sooo much better than being bored!

33. New York City - I used to really hate the Big Apple. But then I realized how it’s the most expensive city in the world, yet people can make it with next to nothing. The opportunities provided by the concrete jungle are incredible. I’m also thankful for those who work to keep the city clean, because considering all of the millions of people there, it’s maintained quite nicely.

34. Actors and actresses who work their butts off for 2 hours of our entertainment, while sacrificing any hint of a private life - While in New York this past week, I had the opportunity to see Godspell. It. Was. Amazing. The energy that radiated from all of the cast members was awesome. To think that they do that twice a day, but each time looks like the first to an outsider, is inspiring, to say the least. I saw a few actresses walk in, and of course, they were stopped multiple times for pictures and autographs. I know I would get sick of that kind of thing very quickly, so I’m thankful that they’re willing to sacrifice so much so that I could be mind-boggled.

35. Heat - Winter is cold. Very cold. I’m very fortunate to have heat in both my house and car to shield me from one of my least favorite elements of all time.

36. Completed research papers - They take forever, don’t seem to ever prove anything, and are pretty pointless, but it sure feels good to get ‘em done!

37. Smell nostalgia - I know you’ve done it before. A stranger has walked by you that wears the same perfume as your best friend’s mom. Or you smell the stale-popcorn typical movie theater smell and remember that one summer day that you went to the movies just to escape into the air conditioning. Or my personal favorite, the smell of spring when you get to crack the window open for the first time in months.

38. Those weekends when ABC Family plays all of your favorite Disney movies - Bambi, The Lion King, Aladdin, AND Pirates of the Caribbean all in one day? Doesn’t get better than that.

Until next week!! I miss Tumblr D:

Things I’m Thankful For

27. Sleeping in and waking up to the sun streaming through your blinds - Then you look out the window, and the sky is that one AMAZING shade of blue, and you can’t wait to go outside and be alive. Pretty self-explanatory.

28. People who are just really good at what they do - I don’t care if you’re sweeping a street, curing cancer, or anything in between. I love when people put 110% into what they’re doing - it shows just how much you care about playing your small role in the world.

29. Laughter - kind of on the same note as smiles, but laughter is the music of smiles. I always feel my best when my gut is about to split open from laughing too hard.

30. Determination - defined as “firm or fixed intention to achieve a desired end” (thank you, Merriam-Webster). I’m thankful that I have such determination to achieve my goals, and that if I want something done, I will make it happen. Being so resolute makes this world a lot easier to navigate :)

31. Those (extremely) rare moments when I’m actually not tired - I don’t even think I can remember the last time this happened, but not much else feels better than this.

Until Sunday, have a happy rest of the week!

AHHH! Lent 2012

I think I’m going to give up the internet (other than school-related uses)for Lent. However, this (unfortunately) means that I’ll be giving up Tumblr as well. I don’t believe that Lent should be about giving things up for 40 days and then returning to normal habits. Usually, I try to do something rather than give up something. By giving up the internet, I’ll have plenty more free time to be productive and do something in this big, big world. Every Sunday, though, I will take a few minutes a day to reflect on seven things I’m thankful for for the week. I’ll take care of today through Saturday right now.
